Vintage Kenner Display
Posted by Dustin on January 4, 2005 at 06:40 PM CST:

Kenner debuted their plush assortments shortly after the initial success of the action figure line. Between Kenner and its Canadian foreign subsidiary, several characters were produced with R2-D2 being the most produced and most popular. While the display bin pictured here isn?t exactly uber-rare, the presence of the shipping box is quite uncommon. The plush R2s were placed in bags and shipped in the shipping carton already in their display bin. The R2s came packed six to a bin. Basically the vendor removed the display bin from it?s shipping box and placed it on the shelf fully stocked with R2s ready for sale. It?s conceivable that the vast majority of shipping boxes were destroyed during removal of the display bins, especially if the retailer used a case cutter. This display bin and shipping box are in average condition, but obtaining an original Star Wars shipping box, regardless of condition, is a nice addition to any collection.
