*News from Rebelscum.com is that the newly shown R2-D2 is going to be a part of the Vintage Collection coming from Hasbro. There is also now a prototype image of the R2-D2 from SDCC shown above.

Here's a modern R2-D2 collectible we're archiving today for Chrome Dome Protos. The image is courtesy of Don H, and shows an internal "green tag" kenner sign off sample. Items like this were basically in their final steps of the approval process at Kenner. There's another similar "green tag" item we already have archived right here.
